This year we attended several gravel races and events to showcase GRVL and the latest collection.
We have also shot several campaigns throughout the UK with many of these locations being incredibly wild and rural, making our trusted Land Rover Defender the perfect workhorse.
It’s become clear that an additional vehicle or trailer is required to help lug the full range, mannequins, event tents and bikes to these events and shoots.
With sustainability at our core, we decided upcycling was the route to take and decided to marry the utilitarian, go anywhere function of the defender by upcycling a scrapped defender into an expedition trailer.
Converting something that has little to no value other than spares and scrap metal into something that has a second life, and hopefully a long one at that was the perfect solution.
Big enough to store enough of the expo kit and carry bikes on the rack, this EXPDN DFNDER is the perfect extension to the existing defender.
Some may comment that our Land Rover Defender, isn’t the most environmental choice, however replacing something that may not be 100% perfect with say an EV, isn’t our idea of sustainability. EV’s may be kinder when you physically drive them, however, to produce something new rather than use something that exists with a technology that is harmful to the environment and won’t last as long as a defender isn’t a suitable choice. Let’s not forget that the power to charge the EV might not be sustainable too and when the batteries need to be replaced, these cannot be recycled yet. While the Defender may not be as friendly when driven, it already exists and will exist for many years to come. In fact, it is estimated that 70% of all Land Rover Defenders ever built are still around today represents real sustainability.
This attitude towards sustainability is shared with the development of our products, making them to last as long as possible. Sure, we may sell less products because they last much longer than many of our competitors, but today we need to take action to protect our planet.
We plan to renovate and build up the trailer over the winter, ready for use for the 2025 events and races. Give us a honk if you see us on the roads.
